Synchronised Swimming Or Artistic Swimming?<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n

Artistic swimming, formerly known as synchronised swimming, has been a part of the Summer Olympics since 1984. Originally, the sport featured solo and duet categories exclusively for women.<\/p>\n

The sport underwent a significant rebranding in 2017 when the international governing body for aquatic sports changed its name from “synchronised swimming” to “artistic swimming.”<\/p>\n

This year in Paris, the competition includes two medal events: the Duet and the Team categories. A total of 96 athletes are competing, marking the smallest number of participants since the 1996 Atlanta Games.<\/p>\n
