The charges stem from Jayawickrama&#8217;s failure to report an approach to fix matches and his obstruction of an ongoing investigation.<br \/>According to the ICC, Jayawickrama was approached to fix international matches during the 2021 season of the Lanka Premier League.Additionally, he was asked to approach another player to engage in <!-- -->match-fixing<!-- --> activities during the same tournament. <br \/>The ICC&#8217;s statement highlighted the severity of the charges against the young spinner.<br \/>&#8220;Reportedly, the Sri Lanka bowler was found to have deleted messages related to the approach for conducting corrupt practices,&#8221; the ICC said in a statement, as reported by Reuters.<br \/>&#8220;Jayawickrama has 14 days from 6 August 2024 to respond to the charges.&#8221;<br \/>Jaywawickrama stepped into the international arena in April 2021. In his maiden Test match against Bangladesh, he showcased his skills by claiming an impressive 11 wickets.
