These people were identified as Lallungawi Hmar, Lalbikung Hmar and K Joshua Lalrinsang. <\/p>\n<p>The post-mortem report by Silchar Medical College and Hospital says that the body of Lallungawi \u201cwas found naked.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The \u2018final opinion regarding the cause of death\u2019 states that Lallungawi\u2019s death was \u201cinstantaneous following injuries sustained in the thorax caused by bullet fired from rifled firearm\u201d and his body also had injury \u201ccaused by blunt force impact.\u201d His body bore \u2018lacerated injury\u2019 on thigh and \u2018multiple pressure abrasion\u2019 on forearm.<\/p>\n<p>Joshua\u2019s cause of death has also been mentioned as \u201cinstantaneous following injuries sustained in the head\u201d and was \u201ccaused by a bullet fired from a rifled firearm.\u201d His body has several injuries \u201ccaused by blunt force impact.\u201d His body too bore marks of &#8220;graze abrasion&#8221; on left thigh and below \u201cposterior superior iliac spine\u201d and muscle deep&#8221; injuries on left ankle joint and right leg below knee joint.<\/p>\n<p>The cause of death of Lalbikung has been reported as \u201cdue to hemorrhagic shock following injuries sustained caused by a bullet fired from a rifled firearm. His body too has several injuries \u201ccaused by blunt force impact.\u201dLalbikung\u2019s body also has \u201dlaceration injury\u201d over chest, &#8220;pressure abrasion&#8221; on the face, neck, chest and posterior axillary line, and a &#8220;patterned bruise&#8221; on the left leg.The family members had filed a writ petition before <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/gauhati-high-court\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gauhati High Court<\/a> and demanded an independent inquiry by CBI with officials from outside the state conducting the probe.Hearing the case, a division bench of Gauhati High comprising Justice Kalyan Rai Surana and Justice Soumitra Saikia stated that the petitioners have no objection to taking the custody of the bodies, which are lying at the morgue of SMCH, to perform their last rites. The case will be heard next on September 10.<\/p>\n<p>The bench of Justice KR Surana and Justice S Mitra stated that in view of the nature of the allegations made in the writ petition, the court is inclined to issue a notice to state commissioner of secretary of home department, chief secretary, DGP, Cachar district deputy commissioner and SP and OC of Lakhipur police station. <\/p>\n<p>The bench also asked the senior government advocate of Assam to produce the postmortem report, if conducted, on the next date fixed. Later at night, a team of Cachar Police led by Superintendent of Police Nomal Mahatta took the three arrested militants for an operation in Bhuban Pahar area in the <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/assam-mizoram-border\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Assam-Mizoram border<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had stated in X, \u201cIn an early morning operation, @cacharpolice killed 3 Hmar militants from Assam and neighbouring Manipur. Police also seized 2 AK rifles, 1 other rifle and 1 pistol.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cachar Superintendent of police Numal Mahatta told media persons, \u201cWe have intelligence that armed militants are moving in the border area and accordingly a police team was sent and during a Nakka checking three people were apprehended. They had AK 56 Rifle, a pistol and single barrel gun and ammunition with them. They were interrogated and during interrogation they revealed that some of their colleagues with sophisticated weapons are taking shelter in the foothills of Bhuban hills.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He immediately added that a special operation was planned. \u201cIn the wee hours of Wednesday police personnel marched in the hill terrain of the hills and when they reached there. From the road towards Manipur around six to seven militants heavily loaded with weapons fired on the police team. Vehicle of Additional SP (headquarter) was damaged, and three police personnel were injured.
