To boost Assam’s prospects as a preferred destination for establishing a manufacturing base for electronics and information technology, the Assam Cabinet<\/a> has approved the Land<\/a> & Space Lease Management Policy, 2024. This policy is designed for Information Technology Parks<\/a> and Electronics Manufacturing Clusters in Assam.<\/p>\n

During the cabinet meeting on Friday, the decision was made to enhance Assam’s appeal as a manufacturing hub. The policy provides a defined framework for the occupancy of land and built-up space at IT Parks and EMCs in Assam. It will apply to all lands and built-up spaces managed by the Assam<\/a> Electronics Development Corporation Limited (AMTRON) on behalf of the Government of Assam.<\/p>\n

The policy is expected to support Tech City projects, generating 8,000 direct jobs and over 100,000 indirect employment opportunities.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the cabinet has addressed concerns of small traders facing challenges due to GST-related notices issued by the Office of the Commissioner of Taxes. The Cabinet accepted the report from the sub-committee tasked with reviewing this issue.<\/p>\n

According to the cabinet statement, “Based on findings about questionable algorithms and other parameters, 10,484 cases from 2017-18 and 15,529 cases from 2018-19 will be subject to Suo moto rectification under Section 161 of the Assam GST Act, 2017, on a case-by-case basis within 3 months. For cases from 2019-20, 2020-21, and 2021-22, notices generated using Big Data Analytics Software (BDAS) will be addressed according to the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). The threshold for issuing notices with BDAS assistance will be \u20b975 lakh. These issues are expected to be resolved within 3 months to avoid taxpayer and trader harassment while ensuring compliance with the GST framework.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
