The Government of India<\/a> on Friday approved a series of significant appointments in various departments including Rajesh Kumar Singh<\/a> as the new Defence secretary<\/a> of India. <\/p>\n

Singh, a 1989-batch IAS officer from Kerala cadre was the Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry. <\/p>\n

He will initially take over as the OSD in the Ministry before taking charge as the Defence Secretary<\/a> following superannuation of incumbent Aramane Giridhar on October 31, 2024. Singh’s extension in service has also been approved until 31 October 2026.<\/p>\n

Further, the government has also approved appointment of Vivek Joshi<\/a>, IAS (HY:89) as Secretary, Department of Personnel and Training, under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions. He was previously serving as Secretary, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n

Punya Salila Srivastava, IAS (AGMUT:93) has been appointed as Secretary, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. She was previously serving as Special Secretary, Prime Minister’s Office.<\/p>\n

Vikram Dev Dutt, IAS (AGMUT:93) has been promoted as Director General, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).Katikithala Srinivas, IAS (GJ:89), currently Secretary, Ministry of Minority Affairs, has been reassigned as Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Manoj Govil<\/a>, IAS (MP:91) has been designated as Secretary, Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Vandana Gurnani<\/a>, IAS (KN:91) has been appointed as Secretary (Coordination), Cabinet Secretariat.<\/p>\n
