Guwahati: Assam police<\/a> sought public support for information in the ongoing investigation on bomb-like devices<\/a> planted by ULFA<\/a> (independent) in different places in Assam.<\/p>\n

The anti-talk faction of ULFA<\/a> has claimed to have planted bombs in 24 locations of Assam as a mark of protest<\/a> against the Independence Day<\/a> celebrations on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Assam police stated in X, \u201cWe request public support for information in the ongoing investigation on Bomb like devices planted by ULFA. Credible information on persons involved in making, transporting, planting of these devices is requested Rs 5 lakh reward will be given for concrete leads. Identity of the persons sharing information will be kept confidential\u201d.<\/p>\n

Assam Director General of police, G P Singh, \u201cFour cases registered in Guwahati, those who give information will get cash reward. To coordinate the cases an SIT<\/a> is being formed. Joint Commissioner of Police Guwahati will be in charge of SIT and overall supervision will be under Commissioner of Police.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singh added, \u201cUnder the Additional Superintendent of police SIT is formed in other districts. We are hundred percent sure that this case will be detected. I want to assure the people that we detect the case as early as possible and those who want to create trouble will be identified and take legal action against them. Detailed directions are given to concerned officers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Singh said, \u201cA special team of police will visit Upper Assam and will do an operational review. We will not allow peace to be undermined in the state. Assam police has cracked all important cases in recent times, and we will ensure those associated in the whole chain are nabbed. We will leave no stone unturned to ensure peace continues to prevail.The anti-talk faction of ULFA had claimed to have planted bombs in 24 locations of Assam as a mark of protest against the Independence Day celebrations.The banned terrorist organization in a statement issued to the media on Thursday stated, “We have planted bombs in 24 locations across different districts of Assam as a mark of protest against Indian Independence Day. The bombs were planted as part of our protest from 6 am to 12 noon on August 15. However, the protest programme is cancelled due to some technical reasons, and we are making the locations of the bombs public so that the bombs could be defused,” said the ULFA statement.<\/p>\n

Assam Director General of police GP Singh had stated in X, “Assam Police has carried out extensive searches throughout the State today for Explosive devices. At two places in Guwahati suspicious articles were found which were opened by the Bomb Disposal Squad of Police<\/a>. These articles do not have an ignition device inside though some circuits and batteries are seen. The substance inside is being sent for forensic\/chemical examination.
Similar articles have been seen at Lakhimpur, Sivasagar, Nalbari & Nagaon which have been safely disposed of. In this connection, appropriate lawful investigation has been initiated.”<\/p>\n

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma<\/a> Himanta told media persons on Thursday that after a long time Assam is on the path of development and this must not be hampered.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
