NR Narayana Murthy<\/a>, co-founder of Infosys<\/a>, highlighted the issue of India<\/a>‘s rising population as a major challenge during the convocation ceremony at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology<\/a> in Prayagraj<\/a> on Sunday. He stressed that inadequate attention to population control<\/a> since the Emergency<\/a> period threatens the country’s sustainability.<\/p>\n

“India faces significant challenges related to population, per capita land availability, and healthcare facilities,” Murthy stated.<\/p>\n

He elaborated by comparing India with other nations, saying, “Since the Emergency period, we Indians have not paid enough attention to population control. This poses a risk of making our country unsustainable. In comparison, countries such as the US, Brazil<\/a> and China<\/a> have far higher per capita land availability.”<\/p>\n

Addressing the students directly, Murthy spoke of a true professional’s duty to contribute positively to the nation\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

“This contribution depends on having high aspirations, dreaming big and working hard to turn those dreams into reality,” said the Infosys co-founder.<\/p>\n

Murthy also mentioned the importance of sacrifices made by one generation for the betterment of the next.”One generation must make many sacrifices to improve the lives of the next. My parents, siblings and teachers made significant sacrifices for my progress and my presence here as the chief guest is proof that their sacrifices were not in vain,” he noted.<\/p>\n

During the convocation ceremony, a total of 1,670 degrees were awarded, with postgraduate students receiving 34 gold medals and undergraduates receiving 13.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
