Assam Chief Minister<\/a> Himanta Biswa Sarma in the state assembly stated the state cannot afford a bomb explosion<\/a> on January 26 (Republic Day<\/a>) and this will result in flight of investment<\/a> from Assam.<\/p>\n

He said that the anti-talk faction of the ULFA<\/a> can plant bombs outside the chief minister\u2019s residence and put bombs in parks outside the minister’s colony. On August 15, anti-talk ULFA militants planted several bombs but they did not explode. Anti-talk ULFA, which is also known as ULFA(Independent), is led by Paresh Baruah.<\/p>\n

Sarma said, \u201cI appeal to Paresh Baruah that Assam has around 19 lakh unemployed youths, the state assembly is responsible to provide employment to these youths.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cYour talks and discussion are with the Centre, your struggle is with the Centre government. We have restarted the industrialisation process in Assam, Tata Group is setting up a semiconductor industry in Assam. If there happens to be a bomb explosion on January 26, Tata\u2019s will move out of the state. They have not come here for resources, but they have come here purely as a gesture.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cIf they (ULFA-I) want to trigger an explosion in front of my house, I will explode. I do not have a problem. Plant in the park of ministers\u2019 colony, that will be better. I will ask the police to give safe passage and no security personnels will be there, explodes in the garden of the minister\u2019s colony on January 26.”<\/p>\n

Sarma appealed to the ULFA-Independent to not create an environment detrimental to investments in the state. \u201cIf there is no disturbance, we are sure we are on the verge of building an industrial hub in Jagiroad, Palasbari and Upper Assam. There is good discussion going on Namrup fertilisers. We just need to keep on holding the momentum.\u201d Assam police had sought public support for information in the ongoing investigation on bomb-like devices planted by anti-talk ULFA which is also known as ULFA (independent) in different places in Assam.The anti-talk faction of ULFA has claimed to have planted bombs in 24 locations of Assam as a mark of protest against the Independence Day celebrations on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Sarma had said earlier, \u201cTwo cases will be given to the NIA, rest Assam police will investigate. The bombs were kept but did not explode. Police have done something to prevent these bombs from exploding.\u201d
