{"id":123242,"date":"2024-08-28T18:08:15","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T18:08:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/28\/govt-allows-lower-public-float-for-companies-listing-on-ifsc-bourses\/"},"modified":"2024-08-28T18:08:16","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T18:08:16","slug":"govt-allows-lower-public-float-for-companies-listing-on-ifsc-bourses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2024\/08\/28\/govt-allows-lower-public-float-for-companies-listing-on-ifsc-bourses\/","title":{"rendered":"Govt allows lower public float for companies listing on IFSC bourses"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img.etimg.com\/photo\/msid-112875036,imgsize-94528.cms?fit=1200,1200&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Govt allows lower public float for companies listing on IFSC bourses\" title=\"Govt allows lower public float for companies listing on IFSC bourses\" \/><\/div>\n<div data-brcount=\"17\">The government on Wednesday stipulated a 10% <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/public-shareholding\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">public shareholding<\/a> requirement for <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/companies-listing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">companies listing<\/a> on recognized <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/stock-exchanges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stock exchanges<\/a> at the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), lower than the 25% needed for those choosing bourses elsewhere.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=105115637&pos=toppotime:1-->The move, experts said, is aimed at wooing more and more firms to list on the exchanges in IFSC, a deemed foreign jurisdiction, in Gujarat&#8217;s <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/gift-city\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">GIFT City<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The finance ministry amended the Securities Contract (Regulation) Rules to carve out special provisions for securities listed on recognized IFSC exchanges, according to a late evening notification.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe amendment has been brought about to encourage Indian and foreign companies to list their securities in stock exchanges located in IFSC,\u201d said Mayank Arora, director, regulatory, Nangia Andersen India.<\/p>\n<p>While companies consider several factors, including liquidity, cost of listing and regulatory environment, this amendment would \u201ccertainly nudge them to explore the option of listing\u201d on IFSC exchanges, Arora said.<\/p>\n<p>In an explanation to the rule change, the notification said: \u201cFor the purposes of this clause, the provisions of sub-clause (i) shall apply to, or in relation to, an applicant company desirous of getting its securities listed on a recognised stock exchange in an International Financial Service Centre, subject to the modification that the reference to \u201c25%\u201d in that sub-clause shall be construed as reference to \u201c10%\u201d, irrespective of the post issue capital of such company\u2026.\u201dThis amendment will also complement the government\u2019s January decision to allow domestic public companies to issue and list their shares directly on a couple of global exchanges housed at the sole IFSC in Gujarat\u2019s GIFT City.It had notified the new regulatory framework, setting the stage for Indian startup unicorns and other entities, especially those in the sunrise and technology sectors, to have easier access to a larger pool of foreign capital, experts said.<\/p>\n<p>Importantly, Indian residents are not allowed to undertake share transactions on the IFSC exchanges, which are meant for only foreign investors and non-resident Indians.<br \/><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=105115637&pos=botpotime:1--><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><br \/>\n<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/india\/govt-allows-lower-public-float-for-companies-listing-on-ifsc-bourses\/articleshow\/112875036.cms\">Source link <\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The government on Wednesday stipulated a 10% public shareholding requirement for companies listing on recognized stock exchanges at the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), lower than the 25% needed for those choosing bourses elsewhere.
