Yogesh Kathuniya, India’s discus throw athlete, has added to the country’s medal tally at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Monday (September 2) at the Stade de France on Monday (September 2). With one athlete not starting the event, only four athletes were competing for three medals but the Indian ensured that he remained on the podium with a season best throw of 42.22 metres. Kathuniya’s medal has taken India’s tally to 8, adding a gold to the previous 1 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals.<\/p>\n

Yogesh Kathuniya finished second behind Brazil’s Claudiney Batista dos Santos who set a new Paralympic record with a best throw of 46.86 metres. It was Greece’s Konstantinos Tzounis who clinched the bronze medal with a best attempt of 41.32. Slovakia\u2019s Dusan Laczko finished fourth with a 41.20m throw.<\/p>\n

Yogesh Kathuniya’s First Throw Enough For Him To Bag A Medal<\/span><\/h3>\n

Meanwhile, Yogesh’s first throw was enough for him to bag a medal. His first attempt itself was his season best which put him behind the Brazilian who had thrown him and managed to set a new record. The 27-year-old had five throws in which to try and get the better of the Brazilian, however, he could not eventually reach that mark with his distance reducing with each throw.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was Tzounis who was the last in the order of throws. His best throw of 41.32 meant he had to settle for a bronze medal. Had he matched his personal best, the Indian would have had to settle for a bronze. A medal was confirmed Yogesh before Tzounis’ throw.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
