Three civilians were injured in fresh drone bomb attacks in Imphal West district’s Senjam Chirang on Monday afternoon. Security forces<\/a> have rushed to the area.<\/p>\n

Police sources said that early Monday morning armed militants used drone bombs to destroy security personnel’s bunkers and properties in Imphal East district.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, security forces continued their joint combing operations<\/a> in Manipur<\/a>‘s Kangpokpi and Imphal West districts, where suspected Kuki militants<\/a> killed two people including a woman, injured 10 others and burnt many abandoned houses in Koutruk and the neighbouring Kadangband village on Sunday.<\/p>\n

A police officer said combing operations and marches were being conducted by the central and state security forces in both the fringe and vulnerable areas of the hill and valley districts. The officer said the militants on Sunday attacked unarmed villagers using drones, bombs and many sophisticated weapons.<\/p>\n

He said the central armed police force (CAPF) and the Manipur police commandos launched a combing operation in Imphal West and Kangpokpi districts immediately after the militants gunned down two persons.<\/p>\n

BJP MLA Rajkumar Imo Singh on Monday requested the Centre to withdraw central forces<\/a> from Manipur because their presence “is not yielding peace”.In a letter to Union home minister Amit Shah, Singh, who is also the son-in-law of chief minister N Biren Singh, said state security personnel should be allowed to take charge.”The presence of around 60,000 central forces in Manipur is not yielding peace, thus it’s better to remove such forces which are mostly present as mute spectators… We are pleased with the action to remove certain units of Assam Rifles who were not cooperating with the state government and the public, but if the presence of these and other central forces cannot halt the violence, it is better to remove them and allow the state forces to take charge,” he wrote.<\/div>\n
