Following RG Kar deceased Medical students parents\u2019 statement last night about the role of police , Trinamool<\/a> ministers trained their guns against CBI but showed solidarity to the parents.<\/p>\n

During \u201cReclaim the Night\u201d and candle-light march, the deceased doctor’s parents participated and claimed that there was an attempt to bribe them by IPS DC-North, when the body of the deceased PGT medical student was still lying at home.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had kept the body on the first floor where we live. DC-North took me inside my residence. We felt miserable. I told him my daughter had worked harder to become a doctor compared to his efforts to become an IPS. After my daughter\u2019s death, when we waited outside they did not allow us to see the body,\u201d the deceased girl\u2019s father claimed.<\/p>\n

State Ministers<\/a> in a press conference<\/a>, Sashi Panja and Bratya Basu, have shared a video where the parents of the victim had denied that they were offered any money. Panja and Kolkata Police<\/a> released the same video where the parents had said nobody offered money to the parents. They alleged that police pressured them to say this on the video.
“Until the last rites were not performed, 300-400 policemen surrounded us but after the last rites, there was no one,\u201d the deceased girl\u2019s aunt, who was also in RG Kar with the family, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel deep anguish, extremely concerned, disturbed and are with the grieving parents,\u201d State minister Women and Child Development Sashi Panja.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis press conference is not to defend our stand. We are anguished. We want the bill [that the Bengal Assembly passed two days ago] to be made into a law. We are not here for any debate,\u201d Panja clarified.<\/p>\n

The two ministers also questioned the role of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and their \u201csilence\u201d since taking over the investigation the rape and murder<\/a> on the orders of Calcutta High court.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have not created the NCRB [National Crime Record Bureau] data which says Kolkata is the safest city for three years in a row. We have never shown pride about it. Every case of rape and molestation needs to be addressed at the earliest,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe CBI is doing investigation for a prolonged period and not sharing any information. When the Kolkata Police were investigating, daily press conferences were held. In absence of any information, a vacuum has been created with several truths, lies and half-truths,\u201d the state minister said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are anguished and stand with the grieving parents. They have lost their only child in this manner. Let us not do a post-mortem of their statements. The CBI should probe everything and find out at the earliest who the perpetrators were,\u201d Panja said.
