Ludhiana: The second day of the 37th National Youth Festival underway at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) on Friday was marked by musical, drama and art<\/a> events. Celebrating India\u2019s cultural diversity and artistic prowess, students<\/a> competed in one-act plays, classical dances, group singing, classical instrument playing, and various visual arts competitions, including collage making, poster making, clay modelling, and quiz competitions, to bag the top honours.
The events of the day were graced by director of Punjab Milkfed, also an alumnus of PAU, Kamal Kumar Garg; chairman of Punjab Nat Kala Academy and a Punjabi dramatist Kewal Dhaliwal. Vice-Chancellor Satbir Singh Gosal lauded the performers for showcasing India\u2019s rich folk music heritage, underscoring the significance of such platforms in promoting secularism and social cohesion.
In the one-act play contest, Lovely Professional University from Jalandhar presented \u2018Naam Ghum Jayega\u2019 play, followed by Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut, Uttar Pradesh which staged the play \u2018Sati Pratha\u2019, which showcased the practice of Sati. The team of Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Darbhanga, and Bihar presented an act on \u2018war for peace\u2019. A play on \u2018Stephen Hawking\u2019 was staged by the team of Panjab University, Chandigarh, which narrated Stephen Hawking\u2019s life who battled a deadly disease.
Students of Indira Gandhi University, Rewari, Antardwand play that portrayed the life of transgenders and society\u2019s acceptance towards them. It showcased how the society practises discrimination against the community and is not ready to accept them like normal human beings.
The Parul University Vadodara Gujarat team staged a play on \u2018Abhi umeed baki hai\u2019 that depicted the struggle of a poor farmer\u2019s daughter who despite financial constraints and deprivation touched the peak of success because of her hard work.
Participants performed group songs in Pal Auditorium, while classical instruments and collage making were held at Wheat Auditorium. The play were staged at the open air theatre where many teams showcased social evils, and others motivated students to achieve success in life while battling difficulties.
In collage making, students were told to make a portrait or depict wildlife. In poster making contest, teams were told to make a poster on \u2018India in 2047\u2019 ( India 100 years after independence ). The line-up of events for March 30 includes one act play, folk orchestras, classical and western solo singing, cartooning, mehandi, and rangoli making and elocution competitions.<\/p>\n
