In a video message from an undisclosed location, she had explained her decision to surrender, citing &#8220;defamatory media reports&#8221; against her and assured full cooperation with the police investigation.<br \/>Borah stated she was not absconding but was hiding due to mental distress from the news coverage. &#8220;A lot of defamatory news has been going around against me in a section of the media and not even 10% of that is correct. The media has conducted my trial and hanged me even before the courts could begin the legal process,&#8221; Borah said.<br \/>She then further expressed her belief in the judicial system to deliver justice based on evidence, rather than media reports.<br \/>The police had issued a &#8220;look out&#8221; circular against <!-- -->Borah<!-- -->, her husband, brother, sister-in-law, and two others after they did not appear for questioning regarding the scam.<br \/>Last week, police arrested <!-- -->Bishal Phukan<!-- -->, the alleged mastermind behind the scam, in Dibrugarh.
