A meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee<\/a> on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, scheduled for today has been postponed due to some technical reasons.<\/p>\n

As per the new schedule, the meeting will now be held on September 19 and 20, 2024.<\/p>\n

A meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, was scheduled for September 18, 19 and 20 at the Parliament House<\/a> Annexe in the capital city of New Delhi. <\/p>\n

In the meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Minority Affairs<\/a> had to record oral evidence before the committee on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.<\/p>\n

The Joint Parliamentary Committee will also hear the views or suggestions of some experts and stakeholders, such as Prof Faizan Mustafa<\/a>, Vice Chancellor, Chanakya National Law University, Patna; Pasmanda Muslim Mahaaz and All Indian Muslim Personal Law Board<\/a>, on the bill.<\/p>\n


The committee will addditionally hear the suggestions of All India Sajjadanashin Council, Ajmer, Muslim Rashtriya Manch, Delhi and Bharat First, Delhi, on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah<\/a> on Tuesday said that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which addresses the management, preservation, and misuse of Waqf properties<\/a>, will be passed in Parliament in the coming days.Addressing a press conference on the first 100 days of the third term of the PM Modi government, Shah said, “Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024 is committed to the management, preservation and misuse of Waqf properties. It would be passed in the Parliament in the coming days.”<\/p>\n

The fourth meeting of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to examine the Waqf Amendment Bill<\/a>, 2024, was held on September 6.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, senior officials of the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) made a presentation before the Joint Parliamentary Committee. Several stakeholders, including the Zakat Foundation<\/a> of India and the Telangana Waqf Board<\/a>, put forth their views, suggestions, and oral evidence on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
