Sir Keir Starmer will no longer accept donations in the future to pay for clothes, Sky News understands.<\/p>\n

Rachel Reeves and Angela Rayner also announced they would take the same approach moving forward.<\/p>\n

The decision by the prime minister, chancellor and deputy prime minister follows scrutiny of Sir Keir Starmer and his wife for accepting donations<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The prime minister has accepted work clothing donations worth \u00a316,200, and multiple pairs of glasses, to the value of \u00a32,485.<\/p>\n

Ms Rayner has accepted clothing donations too, to the value of \u00a32,230.<\/p>\n

The chancellor has not accepted any such donations, according to the MPs’ register of interests.<\/p>\n

Earlier today, Home Office minister Jess Phillips defended Mr Starmer saying he had “lived entirely by the rules” amid widespread backlash over his acceptance of lavish gifts and football tickets.<\/p>\n

She told Times Radio: “The Prime Minister has lived entirely by the rules that have governed every single member of Parliament, certainly since I’ve been there – he received gifts and things, and he declared them.”<\/p>\n

“Let me tell you, it feels like he’s breathing down my neck to make sure that we’re doing things right in my department,” she added.<\/p>\n
