The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday dismissed the petition by CM Siddaramaiah<\/a> challenging the Governor’s sanction for his prosecution in the alleged MUDA scam<\/a>.<\/p>\n

A single judge bench was hearing a petition filed by the chief minister challenging the approval given by Governor Taawarchand Gehlot for conducting investigation against him in the alleged illegalities in Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA)<\/p>\n

Senior Supreme Court advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, represented Siddaramaiah; while Solicitor General Tushar Mehta argued on behalf of Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot. <\/p>\n

Justice M. Nagaprasanna, who was hearing the petition, had earlier reserved judgment on September 12 in the case involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.<\/p>\n

The controversy centres on allegations that the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) illegally allocated 14 prime sites to Siddaramaiah’s wife in Mysuru city.<\/p>\n


Read More: What is MUDA scam and how could it be the biggest challenge to Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah’s political career?<\/a><\/strong>In an interim order issued on August 19, the High Court temporarily relieved Siddaramaiah by instructing a special court in Bengaluru to halt further proceedings and refrain from any actions based on the Governor’s sanction.The Congress party has accused the Governor of acting discriminatorily, noting that several other cases await his decision without action.<\/p>\n

In response to the alleged MUDA scam, Governor Gehlot recently requested a detailed report and accompanying documents from the state’s Chief Secretary, Shalini Rajneesh.<\/p>\n

The alleged MUDA scam involves the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), where less valuable land in a remote area has reportedly been swapped with prime land.<\/p>\n

The case is related to the allocation of an alternative site to CM Siddaramaiah\u2019s wife, Parvathi, in upscale Mysuru city. It is claimed that three acres and 16 guntas of remote land were illegally acquired.<\/p>\n

The irregularities were first reported by complainant Snehamayi Krishna, who alleged that MUDA created fake documents to secure plots worth crores of rupees. Opposition parties have seized upon these allegations, claiming the land, worth Rs 3,000 crores, originally belonged to the Dalit community.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
