For instance, a specific batch of Pulmosil (Sildenafil injection), produced by Sun Pharmaceuticals, was flagged for being substandard. However, the company stated that the tainted batch was not produced by them and claimed it to be a spurious product. Similarly, another batch of Pantocid, a medication commonly used for acid reflux, was also found to be spurious.<\/p>\n<p>Another leading manufacturer, <a rel=\"dofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/glenmark-pharmaceuticals-ltd\/stocks\/companyid-4255.cms\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\">Glenmark Pharmaceuticals<\/a>, faced scrutiny for a batch of Telma H (Telmisartan 40mg and Hydrochlorothiazide 12.5mg tablets IP), which is used to treat high blood pressure. Glenmark also denied manufacturing the flagged batch. Additionally, a batch of Clavam 625 (Amoxicillin and Potassium Clavulanate tablets IP) produced by Alkem Health Science was found to be non-compliant with quality standards.<\/p>\n<h2>CDSCO clarifies on drug safety<\/h2>\n<p>A senior CDSCO official clarified, &#8220;The failure of any specific batch of a drug to meet the standards does not mean all drugs being sold by that name are substandard. Also, quality issues are monitored periodically and often addressed promptly to prevent any public health issues.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h2>Regulatory measures to improve drug quality<\/h2>\n<p>CDSCO, as the regulatory body responsible for overseeing drug approvals and <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/clinical-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">clinical trials<\/a>, conducts regular random sampling of drugs to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
