The Uttar Pradesh government<\/a> has worked out a \u201cRural Tourism Development Strategy\u201d to promote rural tourism<\/a> in the state. Under this plan, the focus will be on the development of tourism infrastructure<\/a>, including introduction of homestays, in 93 villages in the first phase.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, the government also plans to ensure proper training of the tour guides and operators across major tourist circuits, including rural and forest tourism. For this purpose, the government has already given special focus to revamp the Manyavar Kanshiram Institute<\/a> of Tourism Management, located in Lucknow.<\/p>\n

As a art of the state\u2019s tourism policy 2022, the government has identified 12 tourism circuits which include the Ramayana Circuit<\/a>, Sufi-Kabir Circuit, Bundelkhand Circuit, Jain Circuit, Krishna-Braj Circuit, Shakti-Peeth Circuit, Mahabharata Circuit, Wildlife-EcoTourism Circuit, Freedom Struggle Circuit, Spiritual Circuit, Buddhist Circuit, and Crafts Circuit.<\/p>\n

The government is encouraging the construction of homestays in the state\u2019s five divisions- Devipatan, Chitrakoot, Ayodhya, Lucknow, and Varanasi, the release mentioned. These regions are known for their natural beauty, folk arts, and rural culture, besides their historical, spiritual, and traditional values.<\/p>\n

In the first phase, the government has selected 19 villages of Ayodhya division<\/a> for promoting rural tourism. Apart from the Chuintiapara and the Darwan villages of Ambedkar Nagar district, Ayodhya’s Abanpur Saroha, Amouani, Sevadhaat, Rampurwa, and Gauraghat have been identified for the promotion of rural tourism and thus, the state government wants homestay development<\/a> in these villages. Simultaneously, efforts are underway to identify 12 additional villages in Sultanpur, Barabanki, and Amethi for similar initiatives. In the Varanasi division, 10 villages of Varanasi, Jaunpur, Ghazipur, and Chandauli districts will be developed for the purpose of promoting rural tourism.<\/p>\n


In the Lucknow division, 23 villages, including Korauna, Ramkot, Saraisani, Bihat Biram, Urdauli, and Thakur Nagar of Sitapur district, will be developed with the purpose of providing homestay facilities there. Besides, 17 villages will be identified in Lucknow, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Rae Bareli, and Unnao districts for the same purpose. The government is in the process of identifying 17 villages in the Devipatan Mandal to promote rural tourism. In the Chitrakoot division, 24 villages in Banda, Chitrakoot, Hamirpur, and Mahoba districts will be identified.As per the government\u2019s plan, tourist guides and folk artists will be deployed in these villages, with the help of local agencies. The government also plans to deploy nature guides at the locations like Dudhwa, Katarniaghat, and the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve<\/a>.
