Earlier, we bought an ox at Rs 11 lakh and another for Rs 14 lakh, and won first prize in many races. But of late, our oxen ended up being second or third. So, we decided to buy a new pair to win the race,\u201d said Patil. <\/p>\n<p>This time, Patil and his family are determined to secure first place in upcoming races at the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/dasara-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dasara festival<\/a> in Mudhol on October 4 and Yadawad on October 15.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:3--><br \/>Bullock cart racing is a popular event held during village fairs and festivals, where farmers take great pride in competing with their favorite oxen. Winning these races is a mark of honor, driving up demand and prices for race-ready oxen. Farmers are willing to spend significantly to secure victory, with the price of oxen involved in races sometimes reaching several lakhs. Winning oxen are often rewarded with cash prizes ranging between Rs 50,000 and Rs 1 lakh, adding to the competitive spirit and prestige of these local events.&#8221;We came to know that a farmer in <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/hakkimaddi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hakkimaddi<\/a> is selling a pair of oxen that topped in more than 100 races.
