Union home minister <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/panache\/panache-people-101\/amit-shah\/profileshow\/85625854.cms\" rel=\"noopener\">Amit Shah<\/a> had last month announced a core group of about 5,000 highly trained police officers or cyber commandos who instantly respond to and prevent cyberattacks across the country will be ready in the next five years.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/article_liveblog.cms?msid=105115637&pos=toppotime:1-->The batch of 30 policemen includes rank from additional SP to constable and these police officers have come from 20 States including Tamil Nadu, Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal, Rajasthan Chandigarh, Himachal Pradesh. \u201cThe six months training module will consist of lectures on Ethical hacking, incident response Strategy, digital forensic, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/cyber-forensic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cyber forensic<\/a>, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/dark-web\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dark web<\/a>, <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/osint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">OSINT<\/a>, thread hunting, cyber diplomacy among others,\u201d Pro-Vice Chancellor of RRU, Prof Kalpesh H Wandra told ET.<\/p>\n<p>According to MHA officials, the batch of 300 police officers have been sub-divided into 10 groups of 30 officers and has been assigned to 10 different centers including RRU. \u201cThe trained officers will be posted back to their respective states and will be responsible for cyber investigation and prevention of large cyber-attacks. The plan is to train as many as cyber commandos in the next five years,\u201d the official added.<\/p>\n<p>On cyber attacks case studies, Prof Wandra said, \u201cAt the last stage, we have plans to conduct live fire exercises and how these attacks can be mitigated. We have 5500 virtual machines for every module and along with the technical knowledge we will also provide awareness on what kind of information should be shared on social media platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, X or Facebook.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The programme has been designed by Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under home ministry and since 2021, the I4C National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (NCRP) has received about 4.78 million cyber complaints by 171.3 million cyber victims.
