Those protests have <a class=\"css-yywogo\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2024\/02\/17\/world\/middleeast\/tel-aviv-protest-netanyahu-israel.html\" title=\"\">been growing in size<\/a> as the war has dragged on and anger at Mr. Netanyahu\u2019s government has mounted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">On Saturday night, the sounds of whistles, horns and drums filled the air along with chants from the crowds, video from The Associated Press showed. Protesters waved flags and carried pictures of the Israeli hostages with signs reading \u201cHostage deal now.\u201d Other banners made clear the anger directed at Mr. Netanyahu over the plight of the hostages, with one reading \u201cReplace him, save them.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<aside class=\"css-ew4tgv\" aria-label=\"companion column\"\/><\/div>\n<div>\n<div class=\"css-53u6y8\">\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">\u201cWe demand our government to sign a deal now, no matter what is the cost,\u201d Lee Hoffmann Agiv, who attended the protest, told The A.P. \u201cIt\u2019s a life or death situation \u2014 we will not forgive our government if another hostage dies in captivity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"css-at9mc1 evys1bk0\">As the night wore on, some scuffles broke out. The police said that while the demonstration was largely peaceful, \u201cseveral hundred protesters\u201d had violated public order by lighting bonfires, blocking a highway and confronting the police.
