Climate activist Sonam Wangchuk<\/a>, Sajjad Kargili<\/a>, along with several other protestors, were released by Delhi Police<\/a> on Wednesday evening and allowed to go to Rajghat<\/a> on Gandhi Jayanti<\/a> as the government informally promised to resume dialogue with the representatives of Ladakh<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Wangchuk, Kargili and other protestors were detained on Monday evening near the Delhi border, when they were on their way to Rajghat to conclude their month-long padayatra from Ladakh to press for the demands for statehood and Sixth Schedule<\/a> for Ladakh. Lok Sabha<\/a> member from Ladakh, Haji Haneefa Jan, was also detained on Tuesday morning in Delhi and released late at night. <\/p>\n

“We were released in the afternoon and promised that dialogue with the representatives of Ladakh will be resumed and our demands will be deliberated upon,” said Kargili of Kargil Democratic Alliance<\/a> (KDA). He informed that the authorities promised that they would allow a peaceful gathering at Jantar Mantar<\/a> on Thursday.<\/p>\n

“We will go back and deliberate on the promises conveyed to us telephonically. KDA and the Apex Body Leh will sit together and come out with a unanimous decision on this matter. Our struggle for our legitimate demands will continue,” said Kargili, who accompanied Wangchuk at Rajghat.
