The SIT will replace the one set up by the state government earlier, it said.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation will be supervised by the CBI director, who will also nominate the two CBI officers to the SIT. The Andhra Pradesh government will nominate two state police officers to the SIT while the FSSAI chairperson will name one of its senior officers for the probe team. Dictating the order, Justice Gavai said &#8220;at the outset we clarify that we have not gone into allegations and counter allegations&#8230; we have constituted the committee only to assuage the feelings of crores of people having faith in the deity&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>The bench clarified that its order &#8220;should not be construed as a reflection on the independence and fairness of the members of the state SIT&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:2--><br \/>Earlier, solicitor general (SG) Tushar Mehta, appearing on behalf of the Centre, had suggested that the state SIT may be supervised by an officer appointed by the central government. &#8220;I have examined the issue. One thing is clear (that) if there is any truth in the allegations then it is unacceptable. I have nothing against members of the present SIT. Let it (state SIT) be supervised by a senior official from the central government. That will inspire confidence,&#8221; Mehta suggested. At the last hearing, the bench had sought Mehta&#8217;s assistance on the issue.On the other hand, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, appearing on behalf of Andhra Pradesh government, contended that the state appointed SIT should be allowed to proceed with the probe.&#8221;Any officer of the court&#8217;s choice can be added.
