NEW DELHI: In the third and final one-day cricket international, West Indies defeated series winners Sri Lanka with a consolation victory led by Evin Lewis<\/a>‘ undefeated 102 at Pallekele.
Lewis scored his fifth ODI century off 61 balls and the winning runs with a straight six in his first ODI since 2021. On 51, the opener rolled his left ankle, but he still played through.<\/p>\n

After the match was cut short to 23 overs per side due to a five-hour rain delay at Pallekele International Stadium, the West Indies achieved 196-2 in response to Sri Lanka’s 156-3.
Avishka Fernando<\/a> and Pathum Nissanka<\/a> opened with an 81-run partnership in 17 overs for Sri Lanka before the rain delay.
Kusal Mendis<\/a> blasted the first four deliveries to the boundary when play started up again.
Nissanka was run out for 56 after reaching his 15th half-century in ODI cricket off 58 balls.<\/p>\n

After hitting nine boundaries and a six over midwicket, Mendis finished 56 not out after reaching a 19-ball half-century and being dropped twice.
Although Lewis and captain Shai Hope<\/a> collaborated for 72 runs, the West Indies lost their first wicket at 36.
Sherfane Rutherford joined Lewis when Hope was caught for 22, and with one over remaining, they defeated the West Indies by eight wickets.<\/p>\n

Rutherford reached his fourth ODI half-century, an undefeated fifty that included three sixes and four boundaries, in just 26 deliveries. In the series, he also scored 74 and 80 runs, however Charith Asalanka<\/a>, the captain of Sri Lanka, was voted player of the series after he took two wickets and scored 145 runs.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
