Madras High Court<\/a> will decide if ministers are governed by any dress code<\/a> and is T-shirt<\/a> formal or casual? This comes after a public interest writ petition<\/a> was filed flagging Nadu deputy chief minister Udhayanidhi Stalin<\/a>‘s routine of wearing T-shirts bearing the DMK’s rising sun symbol embroidered on the left chest side.<\/p>\n

A lawyer, who filed the PIL<\/a>, claimed that such outfits while the duties of a state minister was in violation of dress code prescribed for government servants in Tamil Nadu<\/a><\/p>\n

A division bench of Justice D Krishnakumar and Justice P B Balaji admitted the plea and asked the state to explain whether the dress code applies to a minister of the state and whether a T-shirt is considered formal or casual dress.<\/p>\n

The PIL-petitioner, M Sathya Kumar, said the T-shirt worn by Udhayanidhi Stalin carried the symbol of DMK. “This is despite the fact that public servants are prohibited from displaying symbols of any particular party in govt meetings,” he said.<\/div>\n
