It’s official. Ranbir Kapoor <\/a>And Sai Pallavi’s\u00a0Ramayana Part 1<\/em>\u00a0will be released on Diwali 2026. The second part will hit the theatres during the Festival of Lights in 2027. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film will feature Ranbir as Lord Rama, Sai as Goddess Sita, and South star Yash as Ravana. Producer Namit Malhotra officially announced the two-part project on Wednesday on Instagram. Sharing a poster of\u00a0Ramayana<\/em><\/a>, Namit Malhotra wrote, \u201cMore than a decade ago, I embarked on a noble quest to bring this epic that has ruled billions of hearts for over 5000 years to the big screen. And today, I am thrilled to see it taking shape beautifully as our teams work tirelessly with only one purpose: to present the most authentic, sacred, and visually stunning adaptation of our history, our truth, and our culture \u2013 our \u201cRAMAYANA\u201d\u2013 for people across the world.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cJoin us as we fulfill our dream of bringing our greatest epic to life with pride and reverence. Part 1 in Diwali 2026 and Part 2 in Diwali 2027. From our entire Ramayana Family.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The announcement was made just weeks after Yash<\/a> confirmed his association with\u00a0Ramayana<\/em>. The\u00a0KGF<\/em>\u00a0Star revealed that in addition to playing the role of Ravana, he will also be co-producing the project with Namit Malhotra. The actor told The Hollywood Reporter India, \u201cIf the character is treated like a character\u2026 if this doesn’t happen today, then the film won’t happen. To make a film with that kind of budget, you need those kinds of actors to come together and work for the project. It has to be beyond yourself and your stardom. We have to place the project and the vision first.”<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cIf you had asked me ‘would you play any other character?’ Probably not. For me, Ravana is the most exciting character to play as an actor so I really like the shades and the nuances of a particular character. There’s vast scope to present it in a very different way.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Ramayana<\/em>\u00a0is currently in its pre-production stage.<\/p>\n
