Kalpesh Mehta, founder of Tribeca Developers, believes this momentum will boost the India-based Trump real estate brand. Reflecting on his initial meeting with Trump’s son, Donald Trump Jr., Mehta shared how their collaboration began more than a decade ago at a bar in New York.

“I did my MBA from Wharton, where the Trump family, including Donald Trump, went to. A professor there connected me to Donald Trump junior. We met at a bar in New York, 13-14 years ago, and on the back of a cocktail pier napkin discussed and made our initial plans which eventually became a reality,” Mehta told The Times of India. “His advice when we subsequently tied up, and since then, has been just this: ‘We don’t want to do too many projects, but whatever we do should be the best in class.’”

First Visit and Increased Optimism under Modi’s Leadership

The Trump Tower brand’s presence in India dates back to 2014, when the first Trump Tower in Mumbai was launched. At the time, Donald Trump visited India, shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s election victory. Mehta recalled that Trump expressed optimism for India’s potential, which grew even stronger under Modi’s leadership. “Trump has always believed firmly in India’s potential. He became more bullish after Modi became the PM. And now, India will have the maximum Trump properties outside of the US,” he added.

The Trump Organisation operates its real estate business in India based on a management model. Here, the Indian partners invest in construction, while the Trump Organisation brings its branding and service expertise to create the luxury appeal associated with its name.

Expanding Luxury Portfolio Across India

Currently, the four Trump Towers in India span a total of 3 million square feet, offering approximately 800 residences priced between Rs 6 crore and Rs 25 crore each. The combined sales value of these residences is estimated at Rs 7,500 crore. With six new Trump-branded developments in the pipeline, the floor area in India will increase to 8 million square feet with a total sales value projected at Rs 15,000 crore. The Pune market, already home to one Trump Tower, is set to welcome a new Trump complex that will include both a residential tower and an office block. Additionally, Trump golf courses and villas are planned for other prominent cities.

Strengthening India-US Relations

Mehta expressed optimism that a Trump presidency could benefit the India-US relationship, given Trump’s favorable view of India and respect for PM Modi. “A Trump presidency is fundamentally good for the world and for further strengthening India-US relationship. PM Modi and President Trump greatly admire and respect each other and this relationship has potential to be greatly beneficial to the world at large,” he said.

With these projects, India is poised to cement its position as the leading global market for Trump-branded real estate outside of the United States, catering to a growing demand for luxury residential and commercial spaces across the country.

Source link

India is set to become home to the highest number of Trump Towers outside the United States, with six new Trump-branded projects planned across major cities.
