The protesters shouted slogans, attempted to torch vehicles, and pelted stones at the police. In response, the police used tear gas and batons to disperse the mob. According to officials, gunshots were fired by the miscreants, and some pellets struck policemen. He criticized the community responsible for the violence, accusing them of undermining trust in India’s democratic institutions.

On the other hand, the Congress Party has blamed the Uttar Pradesh government for the violence. Party leader Pawan Khera accused the Yogi Adityanath administration and the BJP-RSS of orchestrating a “well-planned conspiracy” to create unrest in Sambhal. Khera criticized the court’s immediate order for the survey and suggested that it was part of a larger political strategy to stoke division and harm the state’s peace.

The situation in Sambhal remains tense as authorities continue to address the aftermath of the violence. With strict orders in place and political tensions rising, the incident has sparked a broader debate about religious and communal harmony in the region.

(Inputs from TOI)

Source link

At least five people have died, and over 20 police personnel were injured in violent clashes that erupted in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, following a court-ordered survey of the Mughal-era Shahi Jama Masjid.
