The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs<\/a> (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a>, approved the PAN 2.0<\/a> initiative on 25 November. The government has allocated \u20b91,435 crore for this project, aimed at overhauling the current PAN\/TAN system to improve efficiency and taxpayer convenience.<\/p>\n

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, \u201cPAN card is part of our life which is important for the middle class and small businesses. It has been highly upgraded and PAN 2.0 has been approved today. The existing system will be upgraded, and the digital backbone will be brought in a new way.\u201d<\/p>\n

What Is PAN 2.0?<\/h2>\n

PAN 2.0 is a comprehensive upgrade of the Permanent Account Number<\/a> (PAN) system, focusing on creating a seamless, digital experience for taxpayers. The initiative will integrate core and non-core PAN\/TAN services into a unified, paperless platform, aligning with the government\u2019s Digital India<\/a> programme. The system will feature a centralised portal for all PAN-related services and enhanced cybersecurity<\/a> to protect user data.<\/p>\n
