GANDHINAGAR: In order to spread some positive vibes across the University, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University<\/a> (VNSGU<\/a>) in Surat is contemplating over stationing some cows in the construction site of its new administrative building.<\/p>\n

The University is building its new administrative building after demolishing the old structure that started showings signs of structural damages recently.<\/p>\n

Confirming the development, a university source told ET that the authorities consulted both Vastu<\/a> and Jyotish Acharyas<\/a> (astrologers) apart from architects to finalise its plans on the position of various buildings as well as their directions to ensure a good future for the university.<\/p>\n

The university has been for the records had been in the news recently for several several unsavoury events including paper leaks, questionable pass percentage and other administrative hiccups.<\/p>\n

Speaking to ET, VNSGU Vice Chancellor KN Chawda said that apart from architects, Jyotish and Vastu experts have been indeed consulted for the construction and it has been decided to bring in and keep some cows temporarily around the construction site.<\/p>\n


\u201cRecently we had attended a day long seminar in Rajkot on Cow Science<\/a> and were told about a lot of things pertaining to cows,\u201d Chawda said adding that the idea of temporarily bringing in cows to the construction site to infuse positivity has been suggested by the \u201cexperts\u201d and the authorities are now in talks to finalise the same.\u201cWe are yet to decide upon the exact number of cows and the days they\u2019ll be kept in the campus,\u201d he said adding that talks are going on with some NGOs who will facilitate the process. \u201cThe NGOs will bring in the cows and keep them for a few days and later take them away,\u201d Chawda said.<\/p>\n

The University is also setting up Kamdhenu Chair under the National Education Policy and is looking at a multi-disciplinary elective course of four credits that will essentially deal with sustainable living, cow economics and so on.<\/p>\n

Speaking about the same, Dr. Gaurav Shah, a senior professor with the bio-tech department who is also heading the Indian Knowledge System (IKS) School in the university said that the course will offer the students an exposure into the Indian idea of sustainable living and myriad aspects of cow science<\/p>\n

It may be mentioned here that some universities in the state have already set up such chairs.
