GRAP Stages II and I to however remain in-force in the entire NCR,&#8221; said the statement. <\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court allowed the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) to shift to the Stage-2 restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) on Thursday.<\/p>\n<h2>What will be allowed under GRAP-II<br \/><\/h2>\n<p>Under Stage 2 of the GRAP, restrictions such as a ban on the use of coal and firewood, including tandoors at hotels, restaurants and open eateries, as well as the use of diesel generator sets &#8212; except for emergency and essential services &#8212; remain in force in the National Capital Region (NCR).<br \/><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:1--><\/p>\n<h2>Here&#8217;s what it means for the citizens of Delhi:<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The vehicle parking fees will be enhanced to discourage the use of private transport.<\/li>\n<li>People have been advised to take less congested routes even if slightly longer.<\/li>\n<li>Regularly replace air filters at recommended intervals in your automobiles, urged CAQM.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid dust-generating construction activities during months of October to January.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid open burning of solid waste and biomass.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What are the instructions for authorities?<br \/><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Daily mechanical or vacuum sweeping and water sprinkling on identified roads.<\/li>\n<li>Uninterrupted power supply to prevent use of backup generators.<\/li>\n<li>Take focused action to reduce air pollution in identified hotspots in NCR. Increase measures to address the main sources of poor air quality in each hotspot.<\/li>\n<li>Sprinkle water and use dust suppressants on roads every other day during off-peak hours to control dust, especially in hotspots and busy areas. Dispose of collected dust at designated sites.<\/li>\n<li>Intensify inspections for strict enforcement of dust control measures at construction sites<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Of the 38 air quality monitoring stations in the city, five reported the air quality in the &#8220;poor&#8221; category on Thursday, while the remaining stations recorded &#8220;moderate&#8221; air quality, according to the Sameer app.The CPCB classifies AQI levels between 0 and 50 as &#8220;good&#8221;, between 51 and 100 as &#8220;satisfactory&#8221;, between 101 and 200 as &#8220;moderate&#8221;, between 201 and 300 as &#8220;poor&#8221;, between 301 and 400 as &#8220;very poor&#8221;, and above 400 as &#8220;severe&#8221;.On Thursday, the primary pollutants were PM2.5 and PM10, with PM2.5 levels recorded at 59.9 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3 at 3 pm and PM10 levels at 138.7 \u00b5g\/m\u00b3 during the same time.<\/p>\n<p>The air quality in the national capital began deteriorating on October 30, when it entered the &#8220;very poor&#8221; category. Over the next 15 days, the AQI consistently remained in the &#8220;very poor&#8221; range, with readings of above 300.<\/p>\n<p>The situation worsened further in the second half of November as the air turned toxic, with the AQI levels exceeding 400.<\/p>\n<p>However, the air quality showed signs of improvement with the onset of December due to strong winds.
