{"id":18941,"date":"2024-04-05T09:26:27","date_gmt":"2024-04-05T09:26:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/05\/elgar-parishad-maoist-links-case-sc-grants-bail-to-activist-shoma-kanti-sen\/"},"modified":"2024-04-05T09:26:27","modified_gmt":"2024-04-05T09:26:27","slug":"elgar-parishad-maoist-links-case-sc-grants-bail-to-activist-shoma-kanti-sen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/news.talkwithrattan.com\/index.php\/2024\/04\/05\/elgar-parishad-maoist-links-case-sc-grants-bail-to-activist-shoma-kanti-sen\/","title":{"rendered":"Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case: SC grants bail to activist Shoma Kanti Sen"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align:center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"https:\/\/i2.wp.com\/img.etimg.com\/photo\/msid-109061345,imgsize-26876.cms?fit=420,315&amp;ssl=1\" class=\"attachment-post-thumbnail size-post-thumbnail wp-post-image\" alt=\"Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case: SC grants bail to activist Shoma Kanti Sen\" title=\"Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case: SC grants bail to activist Shoma Kanti Sen\" \/><\/div>\n<div data-brcount=\"12\">The Supreme Court on Friday granted bail to <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/shoma-kanti-sen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shoma Kanti Sen<\/a>, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case. <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/sen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sen<\/a>, an English literature professor and women&#8217;s rights activist, was arrested in connection with the case on June 6, 2018. <\/p>\n<p>Pronouncing the order, a bench of Justices Aniruddha Bose and <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/augustine-george-masih\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Augustine George Masih<\/a> directed that, among other conditions, Sen shall not leave the state of Maharashtra without the leave of the special court. <\/p>\n<p> It said she shall inform the NIA&#8217;s investigating officer about the address where she will reside during the bail period. <\/p>\n<p> The bench said Sen shall also keep the GPS of her mobile phone active round the clock. <\/p>\n<p>The case relates to alleged inflammatory speeches delivered at the Elgar Parishad conclave held at <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/shaniwarwada\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Shaniwarwada<\/a> in <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/news\/pune-news\" rel=\"noopener\">Pune<\/a> on December 31, 2017, which the police claimed triggered violence the next day near the Koregaon-Bhima war memorial located on the city&#8217;s outskirts. <\/p>\n<p> The <a data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/pune-police\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pune Police<\/a> had claimed that the conclave was backed by Maoists.
