After Russia, France is seeking to forge an artificial intelligence (AI) partnership with India. The French President\u2019s office on Thursday announced that it has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi<\/a> for the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris in February 2025, describing India as a \u201cvery important country\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have invited India and are working very closely with India in the run-up to the summit. Misinformation and misuse of AI are themes that will be addressed,\u201d it said. <\/p>\n

If Modi, who shares a close rapport with President Emmanuel Macron, visits France on the occasion, it will be his second visit to Paris since 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cIndia is a very important country, particularly in terms of its potential to make a concrete impact on people\u2019s lives. We look forward to India’s contributions to the summit’s various teams,\u201d the French President\u2019s office said.<\/p>\n

The summit, to be hosted by France at the Grand Palais in Paris, will convene heads of state and government, leaders of international organisations, chief executives from large and small companies, representatives from academia, non-governmental organisations, artists and members of civil society.<\/p>\n


The event will focus on five key themes — public interest AI, the future of work, innovation and culture, trust in AI and global AI governance.France highlighted the importance of addressing issues related to disinformation and misuse of AI, which are central topics for the summit’s discussions. On February 10, various stakeholders, including heads of state and government representatives, will participate in multiple sessions. President Macron will host a formal dinner for heads of state and other VIPs that evening.On February 11, the summit will feature a dedicated leaders\u2019 session exclusively for heads of state.<\/p>\n

Earlier, speaking at Russia\u2019s flagship AI conference on Wednesday, Russia\u2019s President Vladimir Putin revealed that AI was brought up at every meeting between him and the Indian PM and said that Modi\u2019s outlook was the reason India\u2019s economy was growing at a rapid pace. He described Modi<\/a> as a \u201cperson who looks to the future\u201d.
