He reportedly faced repeated legal cases and was ordered to travel between Bengaluru and Jaunpur at least 40 times over three years. His father, Pawan Kumar, recounted, “He [Atul] said to us that those in the mediation court do not work as per law, not even as per the rules of the Supreme Court. She used to frame one charge after another.”

The constant legal pressure, Kumar in an ANI report said, deeply affected his son. “He was broken from inside, though he didn’t tell anyone anything. Suddenly, we received the information about the incident—he sent a mail to our younger son around 1 am. It’s 100% true, the allegations of the deceased against his wife and her family.”

Financial Strain and Legal Disputes

The Family Court in Jaunpur had ordered Subhash in July 2024 to pay Rs 40,000 per month for child support from his monthly salary of Rs 84,000. His lawyer, Dinesh Mishra, clarified, “This amount was strictly for the child and not for his estranged wife, as she is financially independent with a good income.” Mishra added that while the sum seemed burdensome, Subhash could have appealed the decision in the High Court.

What did Nikita Singhania’s family say about it?

Dismissing the allegations, Nikita’s uncle Sushil Singhania said, “Subhash’s allegations are baseless. Nikita is not here. Once she returns, she will respond to everything. She has an answer to every allegation they have made. I live separately. I am her uncle, but I don’t have much information about the case. They have been handling it.”

Nikita’s lawyer, Vijay Mishra, also contested Subhash’s claims. “Nikita had filed a maintenance case against Atul. Why he took this extreme step is unclear. A thorough investigation is necessary to uncover the truth,” Mishra said.

Atul and Nikita married in 2019 but began facing marital discord by 2021. Nikita filed an FIR against Subhash and his family, accusing them of dowry harassment under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code. The alleged misuse of this law has been a contentious issue, with the Supreme Court recently highlighting its exploitation for personal revenge.

Pawan Kumar criticised the legal challenges, saying his son initially believed in the judiciary but became disillusioned. “Atul thought the truth would prevail, but he faced so much pressure,” Kumar said.

As the investigation continues, Subhash’s family seeks swift action and accountability. His mother, father, and brother have expressed frustration at the lack of timely support for victims of alleged false legal cases. They hope Atul’s death will spark a larger discussion about fairness in matrimonial disputes.

Source link

The Bengaluru City Police, acting on a complaint filed by Subhash’s brother, registered an FIR against Nikita, her mother Nisha, brother Anurag, and uncle Sushil Singhania for abetment to suicide and other offences.
