The <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/india-meteorological-department\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">India Meteorological Department<\/a> (<a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/imd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">IMD<\/a>) reported that the temperature at 5:30 am was 6\u00b0C, a sharp decline from Saturday&#8217;s 9.4\u00b0C.<\/p>\n<p>In several areas of the city, AQI readings approached the &#8216;very poor&#8217; category. Anand Vihar, Alipur, Bawana, and Burari Crossing recorded AQIs of 292, 256, 298, and 288, respectively. Similarly, Dwarka Sector 8 (258), Nehru Nagar (299), Rohini (288), and Mundka (317) reported <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/high-pollution-levels\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">high pollution levels<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The AQI scale classifies air quality as follows:<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>0\u201350: Good<\/li>\n<li>51\u2013100: Satisfactory<\/li>\n<li>101\u2013200: Moderate<\/li>\n<li>201\u2013300: Poor<\/li>\n<li>301\u2013400: Very Poor<\/li>\n<li>401\u2013500: Severe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Shelter Homes Provide Warmth Amid Harsh Conditions<\/h2>\n<p>With temperatures plunging into the low single digits, many Delhi residents sought refuge in shelter homes. Visuals from areas like Jama Masjid and AIIMS showed individuals braving the cold under thick blankets, trying to rest amidst harsh conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Ved Pal, who manages a family shelter near AIIMS, shared with ANI, \u201cThis is a family shelter, and here we give them a proper bed and as many blankets as they want. They also get food twice a day and tea with rusk in the morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:2--><br \/>Highlighting the medical facilities available, he added, \u201cA doctor visits if anyone has a health issue, and we take them to AIIMS if needed. We also have general medicines like paracetamol and a first aid box to address immediate concerns.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2>Cold Wave Conditions Expected to Persist<\/h2>\n<p>The IMD has issued warnings of &#8216;cold wave to severe cold wave&#8217; conditions across parts of North India, including Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh.IMD scientist Soma Sen Roy told ANI, \u201cThere is a possibility of a 1\u20132\u00b0C drop in temperatures due to winds in North India.
