Bengaluru\u2019s rise as a global hub continues!\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>IT\/BT Minister Priyank Kharge, hailing the development, said he has had the privilege of engaging in several discussions with the US Ambassador Garcetti and others. \u201cAt the heart of all these meetings was a common goal: establishing a US Consulate in Bengaluru. Bengaluru, as a global hub for technology and innovation, is home to thousands of professionals, students and businesses with deep ties to the United States. So, establishing a consulate in Bengaluru was an inevitable conclusion.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The consulate will simplify access to essential services for citizens, promote trade, and strengthen cultural and business ties between Karnataka and the US. This initiative will pave the way for a long-standing vision of ours \u2013 to create sister city partnerships between US cities and Karnataka\u2019s urban centers\u2026These partnerships will create opportunities for innovation, investment, and shared progress.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kharge Jr thanked Siddaramaiah for writing to the US Ambassador, offering full support from the state government.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:2--><br \/>Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya also cheered the announcement, saying Bengaluru\u2014the IT capital contributing 40% of India\u2019s IT revenue\u2014lacked a US Consulate, forcing residents to travel to Chennai or Hyderabad for visa work. \u201cI made it my Mission to fulfil this as the MP for this wonderful city. After persistent efforts and PM Modi decisive push during his 2023 US visit, the establishment of the consulate was finalized on a reciprocal basis\u2026This marks a milestone moment for Bengaluru!,\u201d the MP said in a lengthy post on X.The White House officials had, two years ago, indicated opening a US consulate office in Bengaluru after the PM\u2019s visit to the US. Karnataka is also home to about 650 US companies, creating hundreds of thousands of jobs both in India and the US.
