Australian cricketer Nathan McSweeney wants to play Test cricket again after being dropped from the team. He lost his opener spot after poor performances in the first three Tests against India. Nineteen-year-old Sam Konstas replaced him and scored a fifty in his first match.
McSweeney told the Sydney Morning Herald he is determined to return.
“I’d love to [be back in the Test setup], there’s no doubt about that. Ussie [Khawaja] has been awesome, but when the opportunity comes – or if it does – I would love to do that,” he said.
He hopes to replace Usman Khawaja when the veteran retires. Khawaja is reportedly considering retirement after next summer’s Ashes series.<\/p>\n

McSweeney said he didn’t have much time to think about being dropped because he started playing T20 cricket in the Big Bash League. He plans to talk to team selectors about how he can rejoin the Test team.
“Those conversations will be had, and I’ve got to work out and speak with the selectors about where my opportunity may come and what I need to do to get back there. I’m flexible to bat wherever,” he explained.
He admitted facing India’s bowlers was difficult. However, he believes he can play well, especially against spin bowling. He also praised Konstas’s performance, calling it “really well played.”
“It’s quite a unique game, and it’s very individual at times. You’ve got your own way to go about it, and he obviously did it really well in that first innings,” McSweeney added.
Australia currently lead the series against India 2-1. The last Test match will be played in Sydney from Friday.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
