New Delhi: A day after Blinkit<\/a> launched its ambulance service<\/a>, commerce and industry minister Piyush Goyal<\/a> said that companies should ensure that they are in compliance with the law of the land and no laws of the land should be broken.Blinkit on Thursday launched a 10-minute ambulance service in some areas of Gurugram as a pilot project.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs regard Blinkit doing ambulance services or medicines being delivered, my only submission would be that they have to make sure that they meet the law of the land and whatever are the legal requirements should be properly taken care of. No laws of the land should be broken,\u201d Goyal said.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, the commerce and industry ministry met officials of quick commerce<\/a> companies including Blinkit regarding their ownership structure of warehouses and overall operations.<\/p>\n

Asked about issues raised by small retailers about quick-commerce or e-commerce firms, Goyal said the government is monitoring that and the Competition Commission of India<\/a> has already taken actions wherever it found anti-competitive practices.<\/p>\n


\u201cInvestigation agencies have also investigated in cases where the spirit and letter of the law were not followed. We welcome everyone, but everyone should work within the confines of the law,\u201d Goyal said.Unicorns, Angel Tax<\/a><\/strong>
Goyal also that not too many Indian startups have lost their unicorn status out of over 110 companies in the billion-dollar club in the country.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis has happened more in the last 12, 13 or 18 months. We have been monitoring, but didn\u2019t find too many cases\u2026hardly found one or two cases,\u201d Goyal said, adding that
the government lets market forces decide the valuation of a company.<\/p>\n

\u201cNeither do we interfere when a Zepto becomes an unicorn in less than three years run by a 19- year-old boy neither do we interfere when someone\u2019s value falls, which could be due to mismanagement or lack of financial prudence,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The minister said that startups moving domicile to India is a positive sign.<\/p>\n

Angel Tax, SIDBI<\/a><\/strong>
India is world\u2019s third largest startup ecosystem<\/a> with more than 1,50,000 startups. Around 85-90% districts of the country have a startup.<\/p>\n

The ambitious Startup India<\/a> programme
was launched in 2015. January 16 will mark the beginning of 10 years.<\/p>\n

Startup India had several funds and budget provisions had already been made earlier and provided to SIDBI.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe do not need annual allocation. SIDBI is the operating agency and they keep disbursing the fund. SIDBI has also now started getting back money…Rs 1,600 crore started coming back into the SIDBIs corpus,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Budget FY25 had done with the Angel Tax, which \u201cstartups say was a huge relief for them\u201d, Goyal said, adding that ease of doing business and how startups can grow is always ongoing.<\/p>\n

The minister said that India is the ideal country for deep tech and \u201cno investor talks less than billions\u201d.<\/p>\n

Besides, 50 MoUs have been signed with corporate houses to promote India\u2019s manufacturing startups.
