By morning, more students complained of similar symptoms, prompting further hospitalisation.<\/p>\n<p>The meal served to students that evening included cauliflower curry. Of the 400 students at the hostel, 31 reported symptoms of foodborne illness. Authorities suspect the meal could have been contaminated and have initiated an investigation to determine the cause.<\/p>\n<p>As told to TOI, Dr G Veera Reddy, Superintendent of the <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/government-general-hospital\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Government General Hospital<\/a> in Karimnagar, provided details about the students\u2019 condition. \u201cTreatment was administered to all the children, and their condition is stable,\u201d he said. He added that of the 31 affected students, 23 were discharged after treatment, while eight remain under observation. These students are expected to be discharged shortly.<\/p>\n<p>Union Minister of State for Home and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay expressed concern over the incident. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he stated, \u201cI am concerned about the incident in which 23 Gurukul students in Karimnagar fell ill due to suspected food poisoning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:2--><br \/>The Mahatma Jyotiba Phule BC Welfare Residential Gurukul provides education and accommodation to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
