Rohit Shetty’s movies seldom miss the mark, but his 2022 directorial Cirkus<\/em>, starring Ranveer Singh, was a major flop. But despite being a spectacular failure, the purpose behind the film was a noble one. Let’s find out.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The film’s writer, Yunus Sajawal, recently opened up in an interview about the film. He revealed that Rohit Shetty made Cirkus <\/em>to financially support his crew members during the lockdown.<\/p>\n

“When the lockdown kept extending and everyone realised that this was going to happen for long, the release of Sooryavanshi <\/em>had to be paused instead of just postponing it again and again. Rohit sir wanted to have a Zoom meeting at first. In April, he had already called the production to book Mehboob Studio for September. He wanted to make an indoor film,” he said.<\/p>\n

Praising the filmmaker, Yunus further added, “He said something really nice, ‘Main do saal kaam nahi karunga toh chal jaayega. Mere unit waalon ka ghar kaise chalega<\/em>. Because, no one was working due to COVID and were only exhausting their savings.”<\/p>\n

The writer also stated that Rohit’s reason behind making a studio-based film was to make sure that his unit’s families could keep running during the lockdown. Rohit also mostly hired junior artists during the film’s making so that they could make money too.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Yunus further revealed that even though the crew members worked in rotational shifts with a maximum of 100 at a time, Rohit would still pay all the 500 members.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Every junior artist went through the checkups and vaccinations and they all were hired for four months. Even if there won’t be any shooting, they would be paid,” he said.<\/p>\n

Besides Ranveer, Cirkus <\/em>also featured Varun Sharma, Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johny Lever, Sanjay Mishra, among others, and also Deepika Padukone in the dance number Current Laga Re.
