The Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) in Delhi-NCR on Wednesday invoked stringent air quality measures under Stage-III (\u2018Severe\u2019) and Stage-IV (\u2018Severe+\u2019) of the revised Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP).This action follows a rise in the Air Quality Index (AQI), with the forecast predicting that it could surpass the 400 mark, signaling an urgent need for additional protective measures.<\/p>\n

According to the latest report, the Delhi<\/a>‘s AQI stood at 275 on Tuesday 14, 2025, but surged sharply on Wednesday. <\/p>\n

The rapid increase in pollution levels is attributed to dense fog and low temperatures, which have created low mixing height and poor dispersion conditions for pollutants.<\/p>\n

At 5:00 PM on Wednesday, the AQI had already climbed to 393, and by 6:00 PM, it reached 396. Given the trends, the AQI is expected to exceed the critical 400 mark soon, further necessitating the activation of Stage-IV measures.<\/p>\n

The Stage-IV response, part of a broader eight-point action plan, is aimed at reducing pollution levels quickly and bringing the AQI down to safer levels.<\/p>\n

The CAQM\u2019s actions are part of an ongoing effort to manage Delhi’s air quality, which has become a major concern due to increasing vehicular emissions, industrial pollution, and crop-burning in neighboring states.<\/p>\n
