Guwahati: The World Economic Forum<\/a> (WEF) has designated Hindustan Unilever Limited<\/a>\u2019s (HUL) Doom Dooma site<\/a> at Tinsukia, Assam, as an Advanced Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) End-to-End Value Chain Lighthouse.This recognition comes as a result of the site\u2019s adoption of the 4IR technologies, such as AI, automation, cloud computing and the Internet of Things at scale. The Doom Dooma factory (DDF) will become Unilever’s third plant in South Asia to receive this honour. Previously, the HUL\u2019s Dapada site received this recognition in 2022, followed by the Sonepat site in 2023. HUL stands out as the only company in India, with three factories in the country earning the Advanced 4IR End-to-End value chain<\/a> Lighthouse recognition.<\/p>\n

The World Economic Forum\u2019s Global Lighthouse Network honours the most digitally advanced factories that transform operations, enhance efficiency, drive sustainable growth, and upskill their workforce. The Doom Dooma site runs the 4IR technology in almost every process, with more than 50 initiatives currently in place across the end-to-end (E2E) supply chain.<\/p>\n

Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated in X, \u201c our ecosystem not only encourages innovation but also supports implementation of various Industry First measures. This digital advancement has been supported by the digital infrastructure in place in the State and the business friendly policies. My compliments to the leadership team of HUL for this prestigious recognition\u201d.<\/p>\n

We are committed to demonstrating that innovation, sustainability, and workforce development can go hand-in-hand”.With an annual production capacity of +5.4 billion units and a team of 675, the DDF site, which is India\u2019s largest Beauty & Wellbeing manufacturing unit, produces over 130+ SKUs of beauty products, including Glow & Lovely, Pond\u2019s, Vaseline, Sunsilk, Clinic Plus, TRESemm\u00e9, and Dove. Operating in a remote region with limited resources, the site partnered with local institutes to create a skilled workforce and was able to implement 50+ digital use cases to improve end-to-end supply chain agility<\/a>. Here are some of the key 4IR applications employed at the factory, which led to the Lighthouse recognition:<\/p>\n

Assam Cabinet ministers visited the Tata Semiconductor facility which is coming up in Jagiroad. Sarma stated in X, \u201cGood news for the people of Morigaon! At the #AssamCabinet meeting held today, we have taken key decisions to transform the district. Projects worth ?292cr will be taken up in the district along with plans to set up another Industrial Estate spread over 1000 bighas.\u201d
