NEW DELHI: In a major development in Indian cricket, the Board of Control for Cricket in India<\/a> (BCCI<\/a>) on Thursday made players’ participation in domestic matches mandatory for selection in the national team.
The board also announced a slew of restrictions, including cuts on personal staff and families’ stay during tours.
The whip comes after India’s disappointing show in Australia where the team lost the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 1-3.<\/p>\n

The new policies have been created to promote discipline and unity in the team.
Among a slew of measures that the BCCI unveiled, players have also been barred from engaging in personal shoots or endorsements during ongoing series or tour.<\/p>\n

In the 10-point diktat, the BCCI mentioned that non-compliance would result in sanctions, including a fee cut and a ban on participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
“Any exceptions or deviations must be pre-approved by the Chairman of the Selection Committee and Head Coach. Non-compliance may lead to disciplinary action as deemed appropriate by the BCCI,” the Board policy stated.<\/p>\n

“Additionally, the BCCI reserves the right to take disciplinary action against a player which may include sanction against the concerned player from participating in all BCCI conducted tournaments including the Indian Premier League; and deduction from retainer amount\/match fees under the BCCI Player contract,” it warned.
Additionally, the policy stated that players must travel together as a team and avoid leaving tours early, even if matches or series conclude ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
