Streamlining ops:<\/span> In the past, officials revealed a sense of discontent at Tata Digital. Separate business units were reportedly prevented from making their own operational choices, leading to friction and delays. <\/p>\n

\u201cTahiliyani is focusing on organisational cohesion and a more collaborative approach of offering Tata Neu as a digital platform on which businesses can take informed decisions on what works best for them,\u201d an official close to the matter said.<\/p>\n

1mg plans:<\/span> Meanwhile, epharmacy 1mg is expected to embark on a significant offline expansion through its retail stores, where it will sell medicines as well as have lab test facilities, sources said. The company has approved the plan in a recent board meeting. The plan to integrate operational structures of key group assets<\/a> such as BigBasket, 1mg, and Tata Cliq to enhance consumer responsiveness to Tata Neu app has been put on hold.<\/p>\n

Ola, Uber roll out subscription plans for auto drivers<\/p>\n

Following the lead of competitors like Namma Yatri and Rapido (backed by Swiggy), ride-hailing giants Ola and Uber are now offering subscription plans for auto-rickshaw drivers<\/a>. This approach replaces the traditional model of charging a commission on every ride.<\/p>\n

Driving the news:<\/span> Over the last few weeks, Ola has released the subscription model for its auto-rickshaw drivers in select markets including Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad, while Uber has launched the same in six cities starting with Chennai, Kochi and Visakhapatnam, a person aware of the matter said.<\/p>\n

Rationale:<\/span> Uber and Ola are launching subscription-based plans \u2013 where the platforms charge a fixed daily or weekly fee to driver partners for an unlimited number of rides. This could help them potentially bypass the 5% goods and services tax (GST) applicable on auto-rickshaw rides facilitated by them, people aware of the developments told ET.<\/p>\n

The 5% GST is applicable under Section 9 (5) of the Central GST Act, which mandates ecommerce operators such as ride-hailing platforms, food-delivery companies as well as online retail marketplaces to collect and pay tax on behalf of the service providers listed on their apps.<\/p>\n

MeitY groups to devise rules for IoT, mobile and data safety<\/p>\n

The government has formed five working groups to study and formulate<\/a> guidelines for anonymisation of data, zero trust architecture, internet-of-things (IoT) devices, mobile device security, and digital education, a senior official told ET.<\/p>\n

Driving the news:<\/span> These working groups, set up under the ministry of electronics and information technology, will look to develop and adopt guidelines and frameworks for \u201ceffective and efficient implementation of e-governance projects\u201d of ministries and government departments, sources said.<\/p>\n

Tell me more:<\/span> Reviews are underway for the reports on data anonymisation and mobile security guidelines. Meanwhile, development continues on guidelines for zero-trust architecture, online exams, and IoT devices.<\/p>\n

These standards and frameworks will be a part of the updated India Digital System Architecture. An earlier version of the planned architecture was released for public consultation in 2022.<\/p>\n
