However, during police questioning, Gurumurthy allegedly admitted to murdering his wife in a fit of rage on January 15.

Police sources revealed that Gurumurthy tried to erase evidence by dismembering her body in their bathroom. He then used a pressure cooker to boil the remains and a pestle to grind the bones. Over the course of three days, he is said to have packed the remains in a bag and dumped them in a nearby lake.

Ongoing Investigation and Evidence Search

Authorities have deployed clue teams and a dog squad to search for the victim’s remains in the lake at Meerpet. However, as of Wednesday, no conclusive evidence had been recovered. Meerpet SHO K Nagaraju stated that the case is still being treated as a “missing person” investigation until tangible proof of murder is found.

Family Background and Immediate Aftermath

Gurumurthy and Madhavi, married for 13 years, lived in Hyderabad’s Jillelaguda with their two children. At the time of the alleged crime, the children were visiting Gurumurthy’s sister. Following the incident, Gurumurthy reportedly fabricated a story about Madhavi’s disappearance to mislead her family.

Legal Proceedings

Police have confirmed that the case will be reclassified as murder once sufficient evidence is gathered. Gurumurthy is expected to be formally arrested soon. Investigators are continuing their probe to uncover more details about the case. This incident has raised concerns about domestic violence and the need for vigilance in addressing such issues within families.

Source link

In a shocking development, a retired Army jawan employed as a security guard in a defense establishment allegedly killed his wife, Puttavenkata Madhavi, and attempted to dispose of her remains in Hyderabad.
