Bollywood<\/a> actor Saif Ali Khan<\/a> was attacked on January 16 at his luxury Bandra apartment in Mumbai<\/a>. The actor was stabbed by an intruder and required two surgeries before being discharged five days later. The police arrested a Bangladeshi man in connection with the attack. Over the last eight days, various conspiracy theories and angles have emerged surrounding the case.Here\u2019s a look at how the Saif Ali Khan attack case has unfolded:<\/p>\n

The Attack on Saif Ali Khan<\/h2>\n

In a shocking incident, Saif Ali Khan was attacked and stabbed by an intruder who broke into his flat on the 12th floor of his Bandra building. The actor was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital<\/a> in an auto. Despite the serious injuries, the 54-year-old actor was reported to be out of danger after emergency surgery. Police filed a case of armed robbery with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.<\/p>\n

During the attack, Khan’s house help, who had alerted the family, was also injured, though she sustained only a minor hand injury. She filed an official complaint with the police about the incident.<\/p>\n

Intruder’s Demands and Attack on House Help<\/h2>\n

Eliyama Philip, a 56-year-old nurse at Khan\u2019s home, described the terrifying encounter. The attacker, a man in his late 30s with a thin build, entered the room where Saif’s son, Jeh, was sleeping. Armed with a stick and a sharp blade, the intruder demanded Rs 1 crore from Philip. When she refused, he attacked her, causing injuries to her hands and wrists.

The disturbance alerted the nanny, Junu, who called for help. Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan<\/a> rushed to the scene. As Saif tried to protect his family, he engaged with the intruder, suffering injuries in the process. The attacker fled before the household staff could intervene.<\/p>\n

Injured Actor’s Auto Ride to the Hospital<\/h2>\n

After being injured, Saif took an auto to the hospital, as no driver was available at that moment. The auto driver, who took Saif to the hospital, recalled how he saw the actor enter the rickshaw covered in blood. \u201cHe walked into the auto. There was a seven-eight year-old boy who also boarded the rickshaw,\u201d said the driver. When they reached the hospital, Saif called out to the guard, asking for a stretcher.Saif later met the driver, Bhajan Singh Rana, to thank him for his quick help and even offered him financial support.<\/p>\n

Manhunt and Arrest<\/h2>\n

Initially, the Mumbai Police<\/a> picked up a carpenter who had worked at Saif’s apartment two days before the attack, but he was soon let go. Two days later, a man was held in Chhattisgarh and brought to Mumbai for questioning, but he was later released.<\/p>\n

After a three-day manhunt, the police arrested Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad<\/a>, a Bangladeshi national, who was sent to police custody for five days. Shehzad had entered India illegally seven months ago and used a West Bengal resident’s Aadhaar card to get a SIM card before moving to Mumbai.<\/p>\n

How Shehzad Entered the Apartment<\/h2>\n

According to the police, Shehzad gained access to the actor\u2019s residence by climbing over the compound wall while the security guards were asleep. He then entered the building through the main entrance, which had no CCTV cameras. \u201cDuring the probe, the police found that there are no CCTV cameras<\/a> installed in the building\u2019s corridor,\u201d a police official said.<\/p>\n

Kareena’s Statement to the Police<\/h2>\n

Kareena Kapoor Khan, in her statement to the police, mentioned that the intruder became violent during the confrontation but did not steal anything. She said that the intruder was aggressive and attacked Saif multiple times. \u201cWhen Saif intervened, the attacker couldn\u2019t reach their younger son Jeh,\u201d she said. After the incident, Kareena was terrified and went to her sister Karisma Kapoor\u2019s house for safety.<\/p>\n

Actor Returns Home, Security Increased<\/h2>\n

Saif Ali Khan was discharged from the hospital on Tuesday and was seen waving to the cameras as he returned home. Mumbai Police has provided temporary protection to Saif and his family. Additionally, Saif hired a security agency owned by actor Ronit Roy, which is now installing CCTV cameras at the building\u2019s entrance.<\/p>\n

Missing Knife Part Found, Police Recreate Crime Scene<\/h2>\n

The police recovered a piece of the knife that was used during the attack. A three-inch section of the knife had been stuck in Saif’s back and was removed during surgery. Another small piece of the knife was found inside the house, and the final piece with the handle was found near Bandra Talao, about 1.4 km from Saif\u2019s home.<\/p>\n

The police also took the suspect, Shehzad, to the crime scene to recreate the attack. “He showed us where he had disposed of the knife after walking 1.4 km,\u201d a police officer explained.<\/p>\n

The Conspiracy Theories<\/h2>\n

Since the day of the attack, several conspiracy theories have been raised. Some have suggested that the attack could have been an inside job, with someone in the house helping the intruder gain access. However, the police have found no evidence of forced entry.<\/p>\n

Maharashtra cabinet minister Nitesh Rane also questioned whether the attack was real. \u201cThe way Saif came out of the hospital, I am wondering if he was really attacked or is he acting?\u201d Rane said.<\/p>\n

The police have also suggested an international conspiracy angle, given that the attacker is a Bangladeshi national. They are still investigating the motive behind the attack and whether there could be any international connections.<\/p>\n

The case is still under investigation, with many questions remaining unanswered.
