New Delhi: A top US official has urged India<\/a> and Pakistan<\/a> to lower tensions and resolve matters through talks, but said his country is not playing mediator. <\/p>\n

Matthew Miller<\/a>, spokesperson for the US Department of State<\/a>, made the remark on Tuesday when asked to comment on a report that alleged that Indian government agents have pursued plans to eliminate suspected terrorists inside Pakistan. <\/p>\n

“We have been following the media reports about this issue. We don’t have any comment on the underlined allegations,” said Miller. <\/p>\n

The official, however, said that while Washington is not going to “get in the middle of this situation”, it would “encourage both sides to avoid escalation and find a resolution through dialogue”. <\/p>\n

In the backdrop of the Guardian report, defence minister Rajnath Singh<\/a> last week warned of a ‘befitting reply’ to terrorists. – <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
