It is an important session and people of Kashmir need this political opportunity and they should be represented in Lok Sabha,\u201d said <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/advocate-g-n-shaheen\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advocate G N Shaheen<\/a> of the AIP.<\/p>\n<p>Shaheen informed that Rashid has sent them this message from the jail and the core group of AIP has decided to express solidarity and support for his decision. \u201cOur members will go for hunger strike at Press Enclave in Partap Park of Srinagar, in Jammy city and at Jantar Mantar of New Delhi from Friday,\u201d said Shaheen. The AIP members expect the two other Lok Sabha members from Kashmir Aga Ruhullah and Mian Altaf, both from National Conference to raise the issue on the floor of the house and enter the house with the protest banners.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities in Srinagar denied AIP the permission to hold hunger strike at the Press Colony and they started the strike at the party office situated at Sangermal.<\/p>\n<p><!--\/include_growfast.cms?pagename=article&skipcss=1potime:9--><br \/>The <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/national-investigation-agency\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Investigation Agency<\/a> arrested Rashid in 2019 under <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/economictimes.indiatimes.com\/topic\/uapa-charges\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UAPA charges<\/a> and while in jail he fought and won the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Baramulla defeating Omar Abdullah of NC and Sajad Lone of People\u2019s Conference. After over five years, on September 10, 2024, at the time of assembly elections in J&amp;K Rashid was released from Tihar jail on interim bail for 22 days, which was further extended till October 28, 2024, when he returned to Tihar.
