Naresh Krishnaswamy<\/a> has been appointed the chief executive of Zomato<\/a> and Tata Digital-backed fitness startup Cultfit<\/a>, with cofounder and former chief executive Mukesh Bansal moving to the chairman position.<\/p>\n

Krishnaswamy, who was previously the head of fitness services at Cultfit, has been running all key operations since cofounder and former chief executive Mukesh Bansal moved to Tata Digital<\/a> as its president, and has now been formally elevated to the position of chief executive, people in the know said.<\/p>\n

Internally, Krishnaswamy was made the CEO in October but it was not formally announced. A company spokesperson confirmed the development.<\/p>\n

He was previously the chief revenue officer at Flipkart-owned online fashion retailer Myntra, which was also cofounded by Bansal. <\/p>\n

Bansal is still involved with Cultfit for strategic matters, but daily operations are run by Krishnaswamy. <\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been in the works for some time and (the elevation) was announced internally a few months back. Mukesh gets involved for broad strategic matters and attends board meetings,\u201d a person aware of the matter said. Bansal \u2013 who had a short stint at Tata Digital \u2013 is currently finalising his new venture with Zomato cofounder Mohit Gupta to build a new startup in the fashion space. The venture has been in talks with several investors to raise new capital.<\/p>\n

Bansal had joined salt-to-steel conglomerate Tata Sons<\/a>\u2019 digital arm Tata Digital as president in mid-2021<\/a>, overlooking key projects like the Tata Neu superapp. He left Tata Digital early last year.In January, Cultfit laid off between 100-120 employees<\/a> as part of a cost-cutting exercise. The company has plans to go for an IPO<\/a> over the next two years and is aiming to turn profitable soon. <\/p>\n

In FY23, Cultfit\u2019s operating revenue more than tripled to Rs 694 crore, while its loss narrowed to Rs 551 crore from Rs 688 crore the year before.<\/p>\n

In late 2020, Cultfit\u2019s cloud kitchen division Curefoods<\/a> was spun off as a separate entity, which is run by Ankit Nagori. Cultfit has also fully divested its holding in Curefoods through secondary transactions, as reported by ET. Curefoods runs brands like EatFit, CakeZone, Nomad Pizza, Sharief Bhai Biryani and Frozen Bottle. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
